Day trip to Chintamoni Kar bird sanctuary….

Hello roamers….

Looking for some few hours day trip in kolkata??? Want to get the feel of a forest but want to stay in the city ??? Want some fresh air???

Then you have a place to fulfill your thirst temporarily. CHINTAMONI KAR BIRD SANCTUARY (CKBS), Narendrapur is the perfect place. Thus below I am sharing my experience on my recent visit to this place.

So heard a lot about it on social media. Thus my best friend and myself planned for an hour or two day trip to a new location. 15th March 2020 we choose for the plan. We reached there by 11:30am.

GENERAL INFORMATION-

• Address– Hogulkuria Rajpur Road, Ramchandrapur, Narendrapur, Kolkata, West Bengal 700103
• Visiting hours- 6:00am to 5:00pm
• Entry fee- 50/-person (as per my visit date). No additional charge for camera.

I went there by metro from Dumdum. Got down at Kavi Nazrul (Garia bazar area). Came out to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Rd i.e. garia bazar main road. Took an auto that goes towards Baruipur. I made it a point to inform the auto person about my drop location- Rathtala durga pujo mondop (near narendrapur ramkrishna mission). Crossed the road towards the right side and walked 3mins on the cut out lane (incase you feel lost check google maps). After walking for few minutes, on my right was my destination.

FEW SUGGESTIONS FOR YOUR HELP–

• Winter is the best time to go for bird photography. As more the summer and the heat, less the number of birds. That is why i couldn’t spot a lot variety of birds on my visit.
• If you want to feel the greens and not birds, post rainy season will be the perfect time. As the rain washes away the dust from the leaves and they look more fresh.
• In order to capture good pictures of birds, there is a small cemented area where water is retained for the birds. You can stand or sit there with your tripods and camera and gather your patience.
• Maintain silence, your mouth, footsteps and phone, if you wish to click good pictures of birds. Even if you are not in the motive to click, help others by maintaining silence.
• Wear proper shoes, cover shoes are preferable to protect your feet from… Insects (if there is any), dust and easy to walk around.
• Must carry any kind of anti mosquito roll on or cream (in case, mosquitoes out there starts loving you too much).
• Carry your own drinking water as inside the place there is no provision.

My best friend and myself, have explored a lot by entering places where there were no walkways. Clicked many pictures of the surrounding and of each other (well… Its a must) and not of birdsb; as my camera is not a high professional one. But definitely saw 2-3 variety of birds (couldn’t expect more as the summer season was already on). Therefore the entire area took us around 2hours to complete our tiny expedition to CKBS.

A trip, whether short or long.. is never complete with some good food. Specially when i am the part of a tour. Btw i am big foodie. So once we were done with expedition, we searched for some nearby Chinese restaurants. One of them was Hatari, garia branch. Took an auto from the rathtala durga mondop stoppage (where we got down in the morning). And got down at Hindustan More. If you are a food lover from kolkata, then you are definitely aware of the awesomeness of hatari. There is another famous option to for Chinese cuisine lover. Its the Chowman, garia branch.
